Sorry, I don't understand what you're asking. Can you describe what
you'd like to do in a bit more detail?

Tags in Subversion are just directory copies, and so are branches. You
use them exactly as you'd use tags and branche in CVS. But I don't
understand what you mean by "embed more meaningful info into the branch".
