When the non-APR socket stuff is fixed, and it passes 'make check', we
should put this back in the build, though, unless there is some other
concrete technical objection by then. Merely being huge is not such a
drawback. A huge commit of new code is different from a huge commit
that changes lots of existing code -- only the latter is dangerous.

(Case in point: Greg H's related changes to existing Subversion code
have been done incrementally, in individual commits before the
introduction of ra_svn.)

I guess what I'm saying is, APR-izing is well-defined, but "time and
discussion" is not, so while time and discussion are Good Things of
course, they shouldn't be prerequisites for this work going live.
