RE: Eliminating the text-base penalty

From my point of view this is not a problem. Here are
my use-cases and comments.

The size of the object code dwarfs the source size.
Optimising a couple of percent is not interesting.

It is far more important that someone can checkout onto
removable media and then work from home. Its not always
practical, secure or policy to allow devo at home to access
office network.

Also I expect that I will never use ra_local access to a repo.
I need all access to be controlled and all modifications audited
back to the individual that made the change.
