Oh this did strike me a bit in a tender spot. "It just isn't needed?"

I'm one of the bunch that believes that ra_pipe is the main method of
access for most private repositories - and that it is indeed a
show-stopper for 1.0 that it doesn't exist.

I can realize why ra_local was needed before ra_pipe - and I can
explain to myself why ra_dav was started before ra_pipe - but if we
compare the usefulness of different methods, I must say that ra_pipe
should be the first.

But anyway - this is open source - and you guys do have good reasons
for your choices. Hence I'm not telling what you should do, but try to
do it myself. And there's people who've done more than just talk,
that's why ra_pipe is in some shape atleast. If only I had a bit more
free time...
