[lord@regexps.com: business models and revision control]

From: Tom Lord <lord_at_regexps.com>

Just to expand on that (rvn ctl as a cornerstone of free software
business) .... one kind of idealistic but achievable idea I had was
to make a full spectrum collection of revision control technologies
(e.g., hitting various resource x performance tradeoffs) with smooth
transitions and linkages between them, partly to expand the number of
ways in which customers (of _any_ free software) can have their own
repositories for the code they use.

Customer repositories are not only empowering to customers, they are a
convenient backbone for distribution and metering.

Is this making sense to others? Am I missing something? It seems
like an obvious way to go, to me.
