if you're looking for who made the change, i believe it was
green@freebsd.org, and i know that warner losh (imp@freebsd.org) was
talking about fixing it, and he probably has the clout to actually get
it done, so you might want to talk to him about it.

good luck. if you can convince people to change this i would be
eternally gratefull. on the off chance that i'm not on whatever
mailing list you ask about it on, please CC me so i can chime in when
appropriate. i have a bit of an interest in getting this resolved ;-)
