Yeah, makes sense. I've committed

   tools/dev/prebuild-cleanup.sh

can you take a look and make sure I haven't missed anything? And we
should have pointers to it from the appropriate places, any
suggestions as to what those might be? (You're probably in the best
position to say, since you came at the problem with a fresh mind most
recently.)
