I'll reply to the diff3 thing after I read the other 50 emails from this list
that have accumulated in my mailbox since yesterday :-)

It does, AFAIK. At least, when I look at my messages, I see both References
and In-Reply-To headers. However, if you'll re-read the message to which you
replied, I said:

> keep selecting 'reply' instead of 'reply-to-all'.

I did it two or three times yesterday. When that happens, I have to go back
and forward the sent message to the list, and I'm not sure how it does the
headers in that case.
