Mike: relax.

Marcus sent in a patch. You implied that it may have been a spurious patch
that wasn't fixing an actual problem ("did this actually cause you a
problem?"). Of course he is going to get offended.

Before responding with your own "attitude", stop and consider why he may
have responded in that way. You could have asked "how does this problem
manifest itself?" or "I'm not seeing this, what conditions invoke it?"

Of course, Marcus could have provided a log message along with that patch,
and that could have said something about not working in a standard Bourne
shell.
