It means a single use of a crlf converter every single time you check
things out, files look locally modified, it means other people have to
use it if you commit, and then their files are locally modified, and
lather/rinse/repeat if they check things in.

And it's a whole lot easier to find linefeed converters on unix than
Windows....

Another (almost serious) suggestion: All text files are stored in the
repository and checked out by the clients in CR/LF format. Unix and
Mac users are far more used to dealing with this from Windows, and the
tools at least come standard on Unix.
