Yes, it is. And we're talking GPL... not LGPL. Thus, readline cannot be a
required component of SVN without suffering the "viral" effects.

It is "legal" however, to allow readline to be *optional*, and chosen by the
user. In no way can readline be a default, however... not even if we happen
to find it. Because of the GPL stuff, the user must manually select it for
user. Otherwise, it could be said that we "use/depend on readline and are,
therefore, subject to its license restrictions."

If there is a BSD equiv, that would be nice... but I haven't heard of one yet.
