Perhaps I'm misunderstanding -- Branko doesn't actually generate
vcdiff format data, right? He's implemented the vdelta algorithm, and
he outputs to interface which will one day generate vcdiff (or
svndiff) format data.

So if you're trying to compare the sizes of actual diffs -- that is,
the sizes of the strings themselves -- between vcdiff and svndiff,
there's no way you can do so by comparing against anything Branko's
done so far. His output format is not vcdiff, as far as I know. We
don't have true vcdiff output anywhere yet, we just have an
implementation of the vdelta algorithm.

If we did have true vcdiff output being generated already, then we
should be a lot more cautious about abandoning the format.
