Sorry, you're right (I misremembered). It was the XDelta paper that
compared itself against vdelta (though comparing algorithm, not
formats).
Either of them is good enough.
Talked to Josh MacDonald about using XDelta a while back; he couldn't
immediately volunteer to do it, and the work of librarizing XDelta
to be independent of XDFS seems equivalent to just implementing
vdelta/vcdiff.
