Thirded, with one proviso. In the course of designing the library API, let's
make sure to pause briefly to ensure that the API will mesh naturally with
other client languages.

I know Brian has this in mind already.

This, by the way, is one place where the DCMS design goals differ. I thought
about library compatibility in DCMS, and concluded that I would settle for
compatibility at the wire protocol level. This may have been a mistake, and
it could still be changed pretty easily.
